volvo 280 bellows replacement?

18'glasply 250a/sp (aq151) volvo penta 280 leg

I will be pulling the upper gear housing and checking the joints ect for the first time next weekend.
I have red most posts regarding this and have a Seloc manual.

what replacement parts and seals ect. should i buy in the meantime?

is there any tips/ tricks i should know? the manual is kinda veg.

i will be replacing the universal joint bellows and wasted my time doing an oil change this weekend.(oil looked good, i think)
any advise will be appreciated.

A couple of things to remember about using the Seloc manual. Keep it well away from the work area and in the shade. It would be a shame to sit your open beer on something out in the open and end up kicking it over. And no one likes hot beer. Usually just under the back of the boat by 2' keeps it in reach and the shade.

Now, you will need some seals and orings.

Drain Plug O-Ring ------------------------955974 2 of them if your drive uses orings and not gaskets.
Fill Plug Gasket (Red) ------------------- 897682 if you have one
O-Ring ----------------------------------125017
O-Ring ----------------------------------925259

Keep any dirt and corrosion out of the drive, change the oil (use 30W engine oil) and don't loose the shims between the upper and intermediate housings.

Drain gear lube. Put the plugs back in and tighten
Hook up pressure tester to dip stick hole in top of upper gear unit.
Pressurize to 15 psi
If it doesn't hold, use soapy water to spay on seals and connections and look for bubbles (that's the leak)

STOP THAT ....... SLAAAPPPP....... quit playing with the soap bubbles and pay attention to what you are doing !!!!!!!!!!

You know how many times I've tried to pressure test a drive and forgot why I was there becasue of this? It's not easy
