Volvo 280 to Volvo DP-E drive.

I'm repowering my boat with twin AD31P-As and DP-E outdrives. I know the cutout for the 280s is different than the DP-Es. Is there a transom adapter or some kind of kit that aids in the conversion?

Also, I need one more drive package. It's a 2.32:1 gear ratio. Anyone know where I can find a decent used package?

You won't need any kind of adapter, all you will need to do is make the cutout bigger.
Look at the picture below, you will see how the cutouts compare. That little bit at the edges of the 290 where the 280 cutout extends past the 290 is still well within the sealed area and not a problem.

So, the X measurement for both drives is the same? Since I am using used drives/transom shields, where would I source a template?

Just above your original post, click on Volvo Penta Parts. There is a box that says if you know the part number . Put in 7733849
3 bucks.
