Greetings, As a part of normal maintenance i removed the old impellar out of the sea water pump (runs off engine drive belt, NOT in the drive) and went to install the new one with volvo penta supplied lubrication, and made sure the fingers were bent in accordinance to the way the belt turns the pulley. Then i cranked the motor with the coil disconnected so it would not start for literally 1 - 2 seconds to ensure it was spinning freely and correct, as not to "wear out" the lubrication i had on the impellar and damage the impellar. I noticed that at one stage of the impellars rotation that it seems that the impellar's finger, at the 11 o'clock position if looking at the impellar from the rear, flips forward for about 1/8 of rotation, then bends back the correct way... is this normal? It flips forward where it would draw water in through the hose from the drive so im guessing thats why. I DID install the half moon brass piece on the top, secured with the screw that holds it in place.. im 95% sure everything is installed right, and ran great on the muffs, then out on the lake for the 1/2 hour motoring around in the harbor (Staying in sight of the dock! )... Just looking to ease my mind here.... Attached is a draw of what the impellar does... specifically the 11'oclock position where the red arrow is...thats where the finger flips forward slightly for ~1/8 of ratation then back to "normal".

Also when i removed the old imepllar, there was a small chunk of one of the fingers missing. I removed the hose that goes from sea water pump up to a T (splits off and goes to exhaust and the other goes to thermostat) , i cannot find the chunk in the thermostat housing, nor in any of the cooling hoses... the chunk is about 1/4 of one finger... should i be worried?? Any tips??? Thanks guys...

A new impeller will turn to the right direction when cranked. If the engine stops on the compression stroke and backs up a fraction of a turn, a blade may reverse a little. Not a problem.
Put it together, and run it. Don't keep taking it apart and looking at it.
The piece of impeller may have passed through the system in several smaller pieces, or be someplace you will never find it.
