I currently have a 22' 1999wellcraft walk around volvo with a 5.0 penta and was going to purchase a 2013 6.0 volvo penta. My outdrive is a sx cobra.
Question is the 6.0 is set up for dual prop. Would I still be able to hook it up to my single prop? If so what changes would I need to make?

Kuz > while I do not know about your question, let’s see if can get the conversation started. First off, the 5.0 in a 22’ boat is already a lot of motor. My 5.0 in my 23’ Larson tops out at 45MPH. If the issue is one of a worn-out engine why not go with same to eliminate ‘conversion issues.’ Also, I read that the 6.0 was a large block vs. the small block the 5.0 is based on, so does it even fit? Other avenues of getting answers might be folks like Michigan Motorz. I suspect they have seen it all and can provide good advice.

The 6.0 is an LS Gen IV motor

The SBC in your boat is a Gen 1 SBC

The motor will bolt up to your existing flywheel housing except 1 bolt

Depending on the programming, the 6.0 may also have a bit of programming that relies on various items such as the gauge package, speed sensors, trim, and a few other things. You may need to get the ECM reprogrammed for your installation

If you can get the full long tail and controls, you will be ahead
