Anyone see any problems with using the older style, two bearing, bellhousing with a Volvo 31 series diesel? I'm converting a TAMD to a sterndrive.

Thanks!

I would have guessed the 31's came with the 2 bearing style?
What is the bellhousing / flywheel cover off of?

It's off an older 41. It's the same part number for the earlier 31s. The bellhousing changed to the single bearing in the P series engines. Although I've researched and found the older bellhousing on the earlier 31s, I wanted to make sure there wasn't something I missed. The flywheel and flex plate appear to be the same in all 31 models, so I'm assuming (key word there) that the bellhousing can be used.

If all the rest of the pieces go together I see no reason it wouldn't work fine,,,it must go with the transom shield, transom shield must go with out drive . You found all those parts used? Hard to find in my neck of the woods!

Yes, I picked up a used DP-E outdrive and had it regeared to suit the 31. It came with a used transom shield. The bellhousing is new (never used) that came off a remanufactured drive from Volvo. The guy used his old one and sold me this one for $100 ... scored!
