This correct ? There is a rubber gasket behind that plate
yes, pull the drive off.

then bend the corners of the tabs, remove the bolts. then grease up the threads of 3 of the bolts and put them in the threaded holes to jack the clamp plate off EVENLY.

set the clamp ring and the very deformed donut off to the side. the resulting hole is about 2" larger than the spud on the end of the PDS shaft.

pulling the accessory drive pulleys will help clear your floor.

using an engine tilter will almost be required

Ok I’m on it plate and doughnut are off and tube is fee I guess I have to pull the pulleys I didn’t really want to pull the pulleys I guess that’s better than bending then pulling it out. I’ll be back thanks again.

I figured it was the coupling but do these engines have a damper plate or is that the same as the drive coupling. my boat shops around here are less than helpful based on the age of it. You all are way more knowledgeable. Thank you all thus far

You can call it a splined thingy if it helps. A drive plate=damper=glorified clutch disc without friction material

Ok it looks to be fine, PDS fits well no slop, any chance that plate could cause massive vibration, I assume it’s the bearing but incase it’s not is that a reasonable option to take apart and investigate? Perhaps the PDS it’s self.

Chances are low it's the drive plate, inspect as needed
Check the PDS bearings
