Volvo DP Oil Change Pump Question

I have a Volvo 8.1Gi with a douprop outdrive.

I need to know if the oil change pump that I used for my Alpha 1 outdrive will screw into the oil drain/fill hole on the Volvo in order to refill the drive with oil.

I always changed my own oil on the Alpha, and this is the first year for the Volvo. I understand that you fill it from the bottom (like the Alpha) until it comes out the top screw under the shift plate cover. I'm not exactly sure why they need a dipstick as well, except maybe to check it throughout the season.

Anyway, to sum up, are the threads the same on both drains, and will a standard pump fit in the Volvo? (Because it appears to be recessed)

I should also mention that the boat is a 2003, and the drain is behind the props.

I'm not 100% sure. I know it's a DP-S, but I don't think I could find a number on it last time I looked.

Where can I find the drive model number?

Here's a picture, although not a very good one.

(I looked in the manual, and it has the oil changing procedure, I just want to know if my existing "bottle top" oil pump will work for this drive.)

I understand that, but without knowing which drive you have, it's kind of hard to say which fitting you need.
You have what is known as a DP-S.
You need an adapter fitting from Volvo PN 3855932 it will attach to your pump.

Well, I just went to 3 different places, and nobody had the adapter. The last place I went was a Volvo dealer, and they had a pump with a long plastic screw-in adapter that they said works well for them on these drives, so that's what I bought for about $10.

Thanks for the info. I didn't want to drain the outrdrive only to find that I couldn't refill it properly.
