I am putting the pivot plate back on the gimbal ring and wanted to know if the threads of the bolts need to be coated with anything. There was something dried up on the threads when I took it apart, but the volvo manual doesn't say to coat them. The same hold true for the heads of those bolts as that is where the pivot plate rides. Should they be lubed?

And of course, the charts in the end of the section of the factory service manual contradict each other.

Nothing on the pivot bolts. I do put some gasket sealer on the threads just to keep the corrosion down in salt water boats.
Guessing those pivot plates are the plastic cover that go over some of them, again some gasket sealer to keep the corrosion down.

I used the wrong term which is my fault.

Pivot housing.

The bolts that go in the side. I found another post Don, where you mentioned threadlocker on the threads of the pivot pins or pivot bolts, whatever they are called. They take the 1/2" allen to get in and out.
