volvo outdrive 4.3 to 5.0?

can i use the outdrive from volvo penta 4.3 to 5.0 or 5.7

Ayuh,... It'll bolt on, but the gear ratio is Way Off....
Probably beyond what you can make up with a prop change...

depends what you have now. Some of the 4.3's came with a 1.61 ratio. The ratio should be stamped behind the prop and zink. I believe it is also on the identification tag on the top of the outdrive.

doner boat is a 2003 silverline with a 4.3 volvo
the new boat is a 2008 stingray 205 LX not sure if its 4.3 or 5.0
whats the diffrences in gear ratio between the two?
ps the outdrive from the 2003 is SX model

Don't know about VP, but merc uses different ratios depending carb or efi. S/N's would remove all doubt.
