You are asking a question that can't be answered.
It's not a common problem, and you can find anything on the net.
Being proactive and taking care of your equipment is one thing, but you are wanting a guarantee that nothing will break, and that just flat isn't going to happen.
Welcome to the real world. Sometimes Sheet-Happens and things break.

Re: Volvo outdrive bolts failing

In the past 20 years I've installed over 300 Volvo engine packages in new boats. Some of these have been commercial boats run upwards of 2500 hours per year in some nasty saltwater conditions.

I have only seen one instance of the transom shield bolts failing. It was 10 or 12 years ago when Volvo was having a problem with their C4 stainless props cracking blades. The customer ran about 5 hours at WOT with one blade missing off of the inner (larger) prop. He said the boat was shaking a bit but he wanted to get home in a hurry. The vibration had broken off the bottom 4 studs and it was leaking some water but not too badly.

Other that that one instance, no problems what so ever. I've seen legs ripped right off from hitting debris, 'H' brackets broken but never they never caused any problems with the transom shield studs.

Looks like the only way you would ever know is to take it apart and check, and if you are that far in you might as well replace. The drive picutred likely failed due to poor maintinance. It is evident in the pictures those studs were severely corroded, likely from the leaking t-shield....
