I have a small block ford engine I just rebuilt. I am now working on the Penta 280 outdrive.
I see that the bearing shoulder in the housing is corroded and broken in places so I need to replace the housing.

I have talked with a few people, and they tell me they are hard to find? Really?

Thought I would ask here......... I would think there would be tons of them laying around....
I mean who would restore something with a ford engine in it? besides a novice like me : )

I found a part number on it 1002475

That is similar to what I need, but that is not a ford bell housing.

I believe the intermediate housings will bolt up to either a ford or a chebby bellhousing. They did not make different intermediate housings for different brands of motors. I believe there are some differences between 4,6, and 8 cyl applications.
The key would be to look at the tail of the intermediate housing, and the shaft (length, and type of splines).

Hi JT...I have the same setup as you, 289 driving a 280 leg, and have been told I have a borg warner adapter between the Ford part and the Volvo parts...is this what your after...try googling BW pictures and see if you can find the bit your after.
It's all new to me so forgive me if I'm wide of the mark, Barry.

I bought the penta 280 outdrive someone cut out of their boat. It had a GM bell housing, and I thought it unbolted like mine, but it was one piece. The shalt housing and bell housing I mean. The one I have is two pieces, an intermediate housing that bolts to the bell housing.
