Hello,
I have a 19' Sunrunner with a Volvo Penta 290A DP drive. I removed the outdrive from the boat (pain, not as easy as Merc) because the aluminum hose connection on the intermediate case was rotted and the cooling hose would not stay on the stub that was left, I couldn't get at the machine screws either. With the drive removed I can now get at the 4mm machine screws that hold the aluminum hose connection in place, however the stainless machine screws are frozen in place and will not come loose. I have tried everything but heating with a torch. Is heating the aluminum casting the way to go? The outdrive is in very good condition and I don't want to mess it up. I re-powered the boat last year with a 350 chevy vortec 370 HP, it gets super milage as long as you keep the RPM below 3500 . The boat origionally had a 305 chevy 215HP and 180 Volvo outdrive, the economy is almost double with the vortec. Thanks in advance.
