My saga continues. Now 18 months into it and 70K later. Still no engine working. Here is what is going on and I pray one of you can help.

I had two Penda KAD 44 B rebuilt sent in from http://www.marinepart***press.com/ They cost me 25K each and were shipped to Saint Martin. I had them installed and the port side engine never worked. Here are my issues

1) See video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2guH...ature=youtu.be

There is a banging sound in the port engine. Caraibes Diesel seems to think it is the Crank Shaft but they are not sure and do not want to open the engine as they dont want to get blamed for anything and are saying I should revert back tohttp://www.marinepart***press.com/ but these guy say that the engines where perfect when they left the USA.

2) http://www.marinepart***press.com/ sent in a Volvo KAD 44 "B" and a KAD 44 "C" and that there is a different type of computer that handle those two different type of engines. So, again, I am being told that the Port engine needs a new computer as the fuel injection is all wrong and wont match the starboard side. Could that be true?

3) The last issue seemed to have occurred during the installation. There is water that is filling up the boat when the engine is running at sea. No one know where it is coming in. I realize this is probably an installation problem but would like to hear your advice.

Thoughts?

Re: Volvo Penta KAD 44 banging noise and computer issue

:welcome: to iboats taurusco

None of your links are working. Why the youtube link doesn't work says it's not there. As for the marinepart link, well that's an iboats thing about linking to other vendors.

The banging is an issue and could be the computer but what really troubles me about your situation is the vendor sold you 2 different model engines? Don't know if the computer was changed but there was a model change B to C. If the fuel is being injected to soon this will cause a hammer against the piston. Does it idle smooth or is the noise constant?

As for the water only coming in while at sea, I would start looking in the exhaust area connections.

I could view the video. All of your issues could be installation issues. One engine doesn't work and the one that does has a bang and has water coming in from somewhere. The sounds appears to be coming every revolution, and I don't think it's the crank shaft. I would look at the transmission area.
