Volvo penta/OMC outdrive ID?

Hello all I am new so please bare with me. I just purchased a 1997 Chris Craft 27 concept. Well it looks like the drive has never had the bellows replaced. They are very old and cracked all over. I dont believe that they are leaking. But I would like to order new ones to replace them. My issue is that I can not figure out what drive I have and I dont want to order the wrong parts. The data plate on the side of the drive tells me the production number- 3868443 and the ratio-1.68 and the serial number- T0801359. It fails to say what model it is. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thank you Mike

Those are OMC numbers, if you post the engines full model number we can find out what it is.

I'm also going to move this over to the OMC forum.

I had the same problem with Volvo serial numbers,1997 was the year Volvo took over OMC

Hey thank you. I appreciate your help. I will go open it up and see if I can find any serial numbers on the engine. Thanks Mike

Not the serial number, need the model number for OMC, no way to convert a SN.

It is raining outside so I dont want to crawl on the boat right now. I do have all the orginal documents from when it was new. One of the manuals has the model number filled out as 74FGPLK. Mike

You should ckeck to be sure but that is a model number for a 7.4L if thats what you have.

I would bet he has what he says he has. Why would you say 744FPLKD both exist.

Regarding the bellows, I would get either the Volvo OEM or the OMC OEM bellows, not aftermarket.

Oh wow. Thank you for the link to that illustrated parts diagram. That is now a saved website for me. Um after all the reading on the different drives I was under the impression that the SX was the single prop version? I have the dual props which made me think that I had a DP but didnt know what version DP.

There is no way of telling which drive you have from the engine model number. There is also no way to look up the serial number for your drive. Don't forget, OMC sterndrive went out of business in 98.

Go to the link I posted in my last reply. Go to your engine model number, and get the OEM numbers for your parts. If you want aftermarket parts, just make sure the replace the OEM number.
You will also notice the parts lists also show the duo prop drive. Only the lower changes, the upper and the complete transom shield stays the same.

Yes I will use that website you posted. I like it alot. Am I correct to assume that the SX and the DP are the same with just the lower units being different? Does DP stand for dual prop? What drives would I be able to interchange with if I ever have any major problems with it? Do the newer Volvo DP drives interchange? Im talking about buying a used lower section or upper section from ebay or such if I ever need to. Thanks for your help. Mike

Also how do I go about ordering OEM parts online. The only stuff I can find is Sierra. Is there a way to cross those part numbers to volvo part numbers?
