Volvo Penta outdrive splines

Can any of the Volvo Penta experts out there tell me if the power drive spline of an older VP 280 outdrive is the same spline used in a 1997 Cobra SX outdrive? It may be shorter, but is the configuration the same?

No. The Volvo AQs have a completely different spline.

Mr. Nunez...thanks for the reply...Just to make sure this amateur understands, you are saying that the connecting spline shaft of my 1997 VP Cobra SX outdrive is different (in diameter, number of splines, length, etc.) than the connecting spline of my VP 280 outdrive. Length differences I understand, but the rest is new info. for me. Thanks again
