Volvo Penta Overheating

I have an older "1985" Volvo Penta 350 that this past weekend started to overheat. The impeller must be bad but I thought that was on the outdrive. I had water leaking from the front of the motor where two water lines connect. What is the part on the very front of the engine? It has as I said 2 water lines connected and it also has a fan belt pulley on it.

Johnny,

I believe that is your "raw water" pump. It has an impeller inside it.

WOW that was fast, Do you happen to know how difficult and "gulp" expensive that is to replace?

Johnny,

Cost isn't too bad. A kit is probably around $50.00. Three times that if you buy genuine Volvo.

Re: Volvo Penta Overheating

Sir, On your advise I just went to the boat, and in 10 minutes had the impeller out. I found out that the older Volvo engines had their only impeller on the engine so it could be changed on the water. Thanks again, you are a Genius!
