Was instructed to start my own thread, so I'm having the same issue as Rangerbarrow was. I'm just not sure where the purple wire goes. The shop forgot to replace it, I just found it loose.

On the other post Don S posted a wiring diagram showing it connecting to the smaller terminal on the outside of the solenoid. Just wanting to be sure that's right.

For one thing, it's the wrong starter for your application. second, it may not even be a marine starter. Automotive starters do not use that terminal, most marine starters do.
Is it automotive or marine?????

I don't know. It was in the boat when I bought it.
Must be marine if it has that terminal.

It doesn't have the terminal. That screw head next to the purple wire in your picture is NOT the terminal. That just holds the end on the solenoid.

What is the purple wire for?
It looks like it goes up to the alternator. If it isn't hooked up could that cause my batteries to not be charged?
I had problems with that this weekend.

Starter is replaced. It wasn't a marine starter.
Glad you noticed that Don. Thanks.
