Volvo Penta SX-C Replacement Prop?

We caught some rope in the prop and now have a increase in RPMs for same power so I am fairly certain I have spun the prop.

I will get this one fixed but a spare will apparently be handy. I am trying to determine a replacement propeller for my Glastron which is at the lake and struggling to determine the optimal default specifications.

It is a 1995 SSV 195SF with the 5.0FL PHUE motor with Volvo Penta SX-C drive

What would have been the factory propeller it would have come with?

Recommendations?

Thanks

- Dale

Re: Volvo Penta SX-C Replacement Prop?

ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight

Re: Volvo Penta SX-C Replacement Prop?

Thanks for the reply tail gunner.

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
Spun prop symptoms. Higher RPMs than the day before the rope got into a short wrestling match with the prop.

2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
Don't know. The boat is at the lake awaiting my return.

3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
Same as #2

4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
By "wide open" do you mean all the way?

5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
1995 SSV 195SF with the 5.0FL PHUE motor with Volvo Penta SX-C drive,
205hp

6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
1995 Glastron SSV 195 Ski-Fish. 19.5 ft. Not sure about the weight

I would be happy to get this prop fixed or get another identical but alas the boat (and the prop which I forgot to take off before I left her) and I are taking a break from each other for the week while I try to earn the pay that supplies her "go"juice.

We use it to arrive at our fishing spots as well as tubing and water skiing.
Not uncommon to have 4 adults and 4 kids onboard.
No high speed craziness, I haven't even tried max speed yet.

Re: Volvo Penta SX-C Replacement Prop?

Are you comfortable with spending 300 or 100..Thats SS or alum...Without going into a long dribble yes SS is generally worth the money...but not everyone sees it that way....SS will out last alum..and let you make little mistakes..like bumping the bottom from time to time..with little damage

Unfortunately here in Winnipeg the Aluminum is already $200 so I will have to avoid the SS.

Hmm Cant find that thing your motor type that is...maybe 215 or 250...Fuel injected should give 250..That is not a duo prop is it....:D

It would be worth your time to go post in the I/O section and see if Don can determine the horsepower..40- 50 hp will make a difference.

Nope, not a duo.
I will post in the other place to seek help on determining HP.

Re: Volvo Penta SX-C Replacement Prop?

Ok, so if I am look at between 190-220 HP does that help determine the correct prop?
