Volvo Penta SX sterndrive hits underside of swim platform when tilting

I don't have a problem with the height of the drive for trailering, it's more for shallow water that I have my concerns. When I beach the boat, the drive sits in the sand. Here's a photo of another Campion (same model, same year), with the drive tilted up so high that the prop has broken the water surface. This is how I would expect it to work. Is that a Yamaha sterndrive?

I'm afraid your boat is what it is.... unless you plan to move the swim platform and modify or replace the drive and or cylinders it isn't going to change.... That level of modification would likely cost more than buying a different boat....... MIGHT be a good time for soul searching... You seem to have several complaints about it... MAYBE this winter is the time to shop for your next boat that fits you a little better than this one?

Um, stop beaching your boat? Even if the drive wasn't in the sand, everything else is. Just looking at that picture makes me wonder why that guy hates his boat ;)

I beach all the time. So what if it hits the sand. It's not going to hurt the boat or the drive. Same people who don't beach their boats are the same anal ones that spend an hour at the launch ramp wiping it down with towels

Meh, if you like sanding the gel coat off the bottom of the boat and slamming the drive into the bottom when someone passes then go to it. I used to beach the Bayliner occasionally until I saw what it was doing to the bottom of it. Not really an issue with the new boat since only a real dunce would beach a boat with tracking fins.

I beach my boat and the gel coat is totally intact. I can see a Bayliner's gel coat getting worn off fast though.

Jeeze. I guess spectrum must send them seconds. I find it odd that a guy who owns a tracker boat likes to bash on Bayliner ;)

No Problem...no gel coat to wear off on my aluminum pontoons!

BTW...I have owned a couple Bayliners. I still beached them even though the gel coat was going to wear off.
