Does anyone out there have this "new" design bellows on their boat? The one with the slotted holes. If this is for the purpose for draining when the engine is tilted up why even have a bellow. It seems to me that when in the water it would allow water to enter into the exhaust system. Granted only from waterline and below but still allow it. Waterline is still pretty high up in the exhaust. I'm replacing mine and this is the one sent.

The exhaust system always has water in it when in the water. The vents just let the water out when out of the water.
Might try Mallory parts, they are even cheaper junk than the GLM junk.

I just bought some Mallory bellows but haven't installed them yet. Are they no good? What brand would you recommend?

Don I didn't buy from here I was only shown this as an explanation of the slots. Now however I did buy Mallory. What sort of problems have you had with them? Do you have experiance with their bellows or gimble bearings? I'd like to know before I put them on. Even OEM parts can have problems. I had to return OEM Ford parts twice until I had a good one.

Re: Volvo Penta SX

I've installed new bellows on customers boats (Mercruisers) and had the bellows fall apart over the winter without ever having been put in the water. Have also had other parts failures from Mallory. They replaced the part, but I got tired of doing the labor to replace their junk for free. To the point I will never, ever, use Mallory anything on anyones boat, nor will I recommend any part they make.

On my engine/outdrive I use original parts only.

I would never use an aftermarket brand that says "made in China"

Well, I bought another starter some time ago, that didn't come out of a blue Volvo box. But it was a genuine marine starter, Prestolite, I think. Got it from MichiganMotorz. In the article description they wrote that this was not a China starter.
