I have a 94 Chapparal with a 94 5.0L Volvo Penta FL. I have been having overheating problems the last few times out. I replaced the seawater impeller, which needed to be replaced anyway. After replacing, I still seem to be having engine temperature problems. The temperature does not seem to be constant, which is what I would expect it to do (the boat was bought a few months ago and I am new to I/O's). On idle, temp is around 130-140 F. When throttling up, the engine heats up to between 150-190, but swings back and forth from one extreme to the other. Sometimes, it stays around 190 then I throttle back and let it cool. It sounds to me like the thermostat could be faulty. Anyone else have similar experience?<br />Thanks.
