Volvo Power issue

I am putting the parts back on my newly rebuilt Volvo AQ171a and was able to turn the engine over without starting from the key no problems. I was connecting the throttle cable to the carbs and sparked a cross a hot wire by the starter and now I turn the key and nothing happens. I have 12v to the starter and all of the powered connections but I get nothing on the sending wire from the ignition switch. I was also able to get the starter to turnover with a jumper push button switch. I replaced the relay between the ignition switch and the starter but it did not make a difference. Any ideas where to look?
