Volvo SX outdrive question

I have a 2000 Volvo SX-M drive. The output shaft seal is leaking as was indicated by gear oil in my drive bellows. I have been reading the volvo manual on this repair and it mentions a pretension crush sleeve between the gears.

Question: Do I have to replace the crush sleeve if I am only replacing the shaft seal? I understand I should use a new Torx nut on the gear, but if I am reading it correctly I don't have to replace the crush sleeve if I don't take the bearing assembly apart.

Any help with this repair would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you have to replace the crush sleeve and reset the rolling torque. You do have to dissassemble the bearing assembly. The shaft that the seal you are replaceing is what holds the bearings in place.
