volvo temp issue update

previously I had posted that my 3 L penta (2006) GLP-D seemed to be running hot the faria gauge had it 190ish and a laser thermometer read 187 on the block between the drain petcocks.

Took it to the dealer who replaced the thermostat and the impeller(which was 'showing signs of wear').

Next time on the water heats up to almost as hot but cools down faster. At slow speed stays in the mid 170 at WOT heats up to close 190ish on the gauge

Is this normal behavior or is it still running hot and I should take it back for them to look at again.

I spoke with the dealer and he expressed confidence that it was ok my problem is that the manual says max temp 178.

any thoughts?

No ideas?

If it is not the thermostat nor the impeller what else could cause it to overheat?

If there was a piece of impeller stuck somewhere what would the most likely places to look be?

Thanks

Closed or open cooling system?

IMO, 190ish @ sustained WOT is o/k.

Hello tom,
Like I said in my other post, its better for you to start your own topic. And yes you will increase wear with no thermostat.
