Hello all: I was wondering if someone would know what the info below represents. I found the Transom Assembly sticker on the engine and for the "Drive Unit" it states

DP-C1 1 95 (I am assuming the 1 95 represents 1:95 gear ratio)

3102158977 (Serial Number??????)

3868002 (??????)

I was informed that the outdrive was a 290 DP. Is the C1 the code for a 290 DP or is a C1 a totally different drive? If so any comments on this drive?

Also I am assuming one of the other numbers above is my serial number for the drive.

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Volvo "Transom Assembly" info

the DP indicates it was manufactured as a Duo-prop. the C1 is simply a production run.
its based on the 290 upper housing and intermediate.
identifying volvos is like alphabet soup'
most the changes between the DPA,DPD,DPC and DPE were not worth noting.
there was a drive shaft change back in the late 80's from coarse to fine spline,10 t0 28 I think. was a few cone and shift shoe materiel changes. if its a steel cone it has a brass shoe and if its a brass cone it runs a steel shoe. there were about 6 cone changes over the years.
were various prop attching hardware changes.
somewhere I have a chart on it.

Re: Volvo "Transom Assembly" info

Your DP-C1 is a 290 STYLE drive, but you can't take off your DP-C1 and install a 290DP. The mountings are completely different. The upper and intermediate housings are also different.
Here is a picture of the 290 STYLE drives.

The 1.95 is the gear ratio (For a small block Chevy V8), the 3102158977 is the SN, and the 3868002 is the part number for the complete drive assembly.
