Re: volvo trim motor rebuild kit

Might want to think about taking it to a motor rebuild shop. If it can be rebuilt, they are the ones who would know how and where to get parts. The next option is looking on ebay for a new or used motor.

If I recall, it's about $100 to rebuild a starter and about $150 for a new lift motor so it's worthwhile to look at both options.

How about looking here on iboats ??

http://www.iboats.com/Volvo-Penta-Replacement-Power-Tilt-and-Trim-Motor-Brush-Repair-Kit-TR223-Arco/dm/*******.240204417--**********.042618729--view_id.185134

I've rebuilt hundreds of these, and it's almost always just the brushes.

The repair kit fits all of the Electrolux motors.

 I'm both surprised and embarassed. Another instance where this forum provides useful information to not only the OP but to other members as well.

You'll need to look at the motor to see what brand. If the link doesn't work, you'll need to drill down into the menues to get to that section if the iboats store: VP/aftermarket/electrical/motor brush repair kits.

Might as well get used to it as part of life with an older boat and what it takes to keep it running. It's part of the challenge and can be quite rewarding.
