VP 280 Bellhousing Confusion

Hey all
I have a Volvo Penta 280 with a GM350 and I think I need to get a new bellhousing, but I’m having trouble physically locating a part number on it. Where would that be stamped?

Right now I am working off some online diagrams, but my bellhousing/flywheel cover doesn’t seem to match up with the pictures I’m seeing. The diagrams show it as one continuous piece (from bell housing to PDS), but mine (see attached pic) seems like the bellhousing is its own part (red) and where the pds bearings are (white) bolts on separately? Maybe I’m interpreting this all wrong?

Why do you think you need a replacement? The short white housing in the picture is rebuildable. It was made so that just about any engine ever built could be adapted to a Volvo using a SAE style flywheel housing.

Ah…is there somewhere on that intermediate housing where I might find a part number so I can look it up?

While extracting the clamp ring I messed up the surface of whatever surface the clamp ring was bolted too (which I’m assuming is that intermediate housing).

I’ll have the engine pulled out later this week and will be able to better see what’s going on at that point, but was trying to put together a parts list (or at least see how much money I should expect to be dumping into this project) in the mean time.

Here are some shots. First pic is the bellhousing along with the intermediate housing. Second shot shows one of the many bolts seizes/snapped off in there, but also shows the dings I caused with the drill bit when I was trying to get the clamp seal off…oopsie

take it to a competent aluminum fabricator and they can have that fixed in about 20 minutes for about $30

Do as SD said, also the broken bolt can be removed at a machine shop. In the past I was able to remove a broken bolt like yours with an acetelyne torch and vise grips. Some machine shops can also weld up any bad areas.
The bearings and seals in the housing are common and can be purchased at any bearing supply house or NAPA.

Ok I’ll holler at some machine shops. In the mean time…what is that part actually called? What would be the way to find a part number for it? I want to start researching seals/bearings etc for it and will be interested to compare the machine shops price with the cost of a getting a decent used one from Craigslist
