VRO conversion question

1999 Johnson J115PLEEM 115hp. I'm removing vro pump and installing a 0438559 fuel pump with external pulse. The fuel outlet on the vro is not a hose connection, it has a fitting that just stabs into the fuel component bracket. How else can i connect the fuel outlet from my new pump which is a standar 5/16" hose connection ? The fuel component bracket has the primer solenoid integrated in there somehow. I've read other posts where the vro had all hose connections, guess mine is different.

You cannot do the the conversion on this model due to the vapor seperator set up..

Looks like in late 90's they added a fuel separator to their engines which i guess is the main reason for my dilema.

I removed the VRO from my 98 115. It also has the fuel vapor separator. I left the original fuel pump in place and plugged the oil line leading to the fuel pump. Runs great.

That's how I had this one also but the fitting for the pulse broke completely off. It needs a new one, just can't afford it now, thanks

Can you tap the plastic remains of the pulse port and screw in a brass nipple?

I found this that has the fitting that I need for my engine. offshoremarineparts.com/8402-460.html I had already bought a 0438559 pump and don't see why I can't just do something similar as long as I secure the hose so it won't pop out.

Gee, I would think you could "re-plumb" the entire fuel system an make your new fuel pump work. Make sure your fuel line has a water separator and connect the fuel line directly to the new fuel pump, and then to the fuel distribution part of the fuel bracket.. Hopefully your new fuel pump has enough capacity to feed that V4.

They used the 0438559 on up to 140 hp in the past, my thinking was that they prob use less gas nowadays and mine is a 115, so I hope so too. I will add a water separator, thanks Chris
