I agree 100% with this. I have a 1992 Johnson 115 and bypassed the VRO immediately after buying the boat. Just as with anything, parts tend to wear (and eventually fail) over time. Certain things you can live with this happening, the VRO isn't one of them, especially if you don't know the boat's history. Mixing oil into the tank before gassing up is as simple as it gets. Just my two cents, though.
The VRO is bypassed/disabled on my 1987 70hpVRO Johnson & i'd never even concider "fixing" it
By pre-mixing i know all's well on oil/gas mixture every time i crank it![]()
