VRO, In-line pulse fitting?

I just purchased a new OEM VRO pump kit, for one of my '84 1.6l Sea Drives.<br /><br />The pump kit came with "in-line pulse limiters" (one side is blue, the other brass in color). The kit also came with a new crankcase fitting.<br /><br />The directions are a little fuzzy on exactly where the "in-line pulse limiter" fitting goes, and my manual does not cover it. <br /><br />Does this take the place of the spark arrrestor in the line from the crankcase, or does it go on the pump outlet line?<br /><br />Is is standard practice to replace crankcase fitting?<br /><br />Confused...................

I'm a little confused at your description, but I think I can "talk" you thru it - There are 2 styles of pulse limiter, one is installed on the pulse hose and it has a hose barbs on both sides. The other is installed on the crankcase, one side is threaded (crankcase side), the other side has a hose barb (blue side).<br /><br />The pulse limiter installs between the crankcase and the pump, the blue side faces the pump. It should be installed on the pulse line to the air motor section of the pump.<br /><br />Does this answer your question?<br /><br />-John

So it's one or the other (in line or on the crankcase)? <br /><br />To verify, I should get rid of the previous hose that had a small piece of what looked like steel wool clamped in (spark arrestor?)<br /><br />Thanks for your help.<br /><br />RK
