With a VRO, where does the oil injection occur?
Is it right after the reed valves, or further down stream?
Just wondering.

Re: VRO input

Way upstream.

You are talking about an Evin/John, right? Kinda hard to see it from here, although we're close!

If so its before the carbs. And most likely its not a VRO but an oil injection pump (constant 50:1). What color is the outlet nipple on the pump?

Thanks Dhadley , actually, I was just thinking about it and trying to picture in my mind how complete the mixing of the oil to the volume of gas would be as this would, over all, effect the lubrication of crank bearings, etc..

Re: VRO input

Actually the oil injection takes place inside the fuel pump chamber on the OMS pump where it mixes with the gas and is then delivered to the carbs. They haven't made a VRO since 1991. This OMS (oil metering system) has an idle ratio of 75:1 and a WOT ratio of 50:1. Most average users say overall the oil consumed comes to 60:1.

This refers to Johnson and Evinrude outboards.
