Thanks to those who replied, RAZ.. my instructions didn't say anything about going from 4 to 3 wire. If yours did I would sure appreciate knowing what they said. Thanks.

Re: VRO instructions

I recently installed new fuel pumps. I went from no wire harness to a 4 wire harness / plug. The retrofit included a new 3 wire harness / connector which attached to board on engine. I recieved a new 4 pin plug with purple wire as part of the new fuel pump kit. I swapped 3 wires from harness into new plug with purple wire. Purple wire was already installed into plug and other end attached to board on engine.<br />I guess this logic would indicate if you wanted to go from 4 to 3, you would eliminate the purple wire, and change the amphenol(sp)plug to the three pin version.

Re: VRO instructions

If you are going from 3 wire to 4 wire, you need only find a switched purple wire to connect the pump purple wire to. The 3 wire only had a tan wire, black wire, and a gray wire. The three wire pump alarm supplied power from gray tach wire. The 4 wire supplied power from tach and switched purple. The 4 wire pump has black, gray, tan, and purple. You didnt say which engine, so I cant tell you where the switched purple wire is on the engine.
