VRO, low oil sensor won't stop buzzing

This is an 87' 60hp johnson vro. The low oil sensor keeps going off (every twenty seconds or so) but the oil tank is more than half full.

Also, can you still purchase gaskets for the carbs. I want to disassemble, soak, blow with compressed air and then reassemble with new gaskets.

andy - The VRO system alarm should not be ignored. Were it mine I would remove the VRO & go to pre-mix.

Carb kits are readily available.

Thanks SoLittle-
Its not the buzzer that indicates no oil. But that little beep that goes off every 20 s for 1/2 s. I guess I will run a premix, fill the oil tank, mark the level and see if it goes down.
To disengage the VRO system, is it as simple as removing the tube from the fuel pump. What do I replace the hole with (where the oil line used to plug into the fuel pump)

andy

I just got over this problem with my 89 - 70hp. (at least I hope it's over)
Look for any air leaks, mine had a bad hole in the top of the oil pump housing where it screws to the tank. I patched it by cleaning it with alcohol, and using silicon. Check hoses for holes,or loose clamps.
Finally got the book I ordered a month ago, and it says the float may be sticking too, clean it with solvent, keep it clean and make sure oil in tank is clean too. The book was too slow in arriving and I got help here in this forum. I hope this helps you out too!

The next time the LOW OIL is beeping, disconnect the oil tank wire that is inside the motor. If the horn stops right away, the electronics inside the oil tank pickup assy. are flakey, or the metal disc and 2 contact points on the cork float in the tank are not working or are sticking.

The LOW OIL system is very simple, as the level drops, a cork float which has a metal disk on it touches to pointed contacts, which completes an electrical circuit. Electronics inside the top of the pickup assy. generate a beep every 20-40 seconds to the warning horn to signal the boat operator.
