After much research and deliveration on this subject, I disconnected the VRO on by '89, 140 hp, Johnson. Yes, I took the advise of the "experts" of this board and did the research and armed myself with all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I enjoyed all the commments and puts.<br />I have only owned this rig for about 8 months but she have never performed up to my expectations, idle w/o falling on her face, having to clean plugs every trip and abnormal smoking. I also own a 83' 90 hp rude. No VRO and no problems. For $160 US I went for the fuel pump only option. Being mechanically inclined I took time off from fishing and after 2 hrs, the job was complete. Since completion of this job I have logged 15 hrs with flawless operation.... I know that this will send a "trimmer through the force" but so be it. Thanks again for all of your help, comments and additional links. My boating is enjoyable again.
