I have a 85 rude 90hp and I have a question about my vro pump is the ball on the hose that goes from the tank to the pump itself always suppose to be hard it seems to always be rock hard to the piont that I can't even push the ball in.It seems to work or at less I think it works cause the motor hasn't blown up.but there is a drop in the idle.

Re: vro pump

Once the pump is primed you should never have to pump that bulb again.

Re: vro pump

okay thanx.what about the pump is there something in the tank that might make the motor sort of miss or drop.it seems to have a rough idle someone said it might be the vro pump i'm just not sure if it's the vro or if there is something in the tank.then if it is the vro is that something the do it yourselfer can do w/a manual.

Re: vro pump

Another typical case of VRO voodoo. It's amazing how many times something goes wrong and if it can't be easily explained, it's always the VRO.

If the motor is missing or dropping a cylinder the ignition is a good place to start after you've covered the basics. Compression first, then verify good fuel delivery, then verify corectly timed spark. If all that checks out it may be something as simple as a spark plug. make sure you have Champions.
