If you guys are poking fun at me you need to read posts 14, 16, 17 & 18.

No BB didn't run his motor out of fuel it was only the fuel line not connected. #16 & #17

Starting to think I need a break from iboats.

It ran for a bit burning off the fuel that was in the carb. After that I filled it with oil cranking it over with no fuel input, only oil input. I picked it up last night. We ran it a few minutes before I accepted it and it ran good. The only exception, and he pointed this out to me is it would skip a beat every so often. He said "it could be" the VRO starting to go and to keep half an eye on it. I have two motors so if it conks on the water then I just hook up my kicker and limp back to the dock.

The VRO would have nothing to do with it "skipping a beat" every now and then.

Just to be aware, there might be a place on your block that is a remnant of when the engine used the small house shaped fuel pump. The fuel pump of years past.
The bosses and holes might already be there, you just gotta get the fuel pump, scrap the VRO, and start pre-mixing your gas.

If you end up being convinced by your mechanic that the VRO is bad (that sounds to me like what he is trying to do), then you can go back with a much cheaper fuel pump replacement.

That is, IF you have the mounting bosses and pulse source cast in the block. You will have to inspect to see.
