i was reading in hear about a vro problem a guy was having and the sugestion to him was to premix his fuel mine is a johnson 115hp 1985 with a vro oil system is it better that i premix and dont use the oiler. i dont want to mess this engine up i put alot of money into it running good.

The older VRO's were not known for there reliabilty. My choice would either be to upgrade the VRO tothe newer model or go to pre-mix...

VRO on my 140hp 1985 V4 is working flawlessly so far. Basic maintenance that you can find out here and all is still well. I always have the nagging doubt that it wil give up on me though. I may well just change to premix myself next season then I will know that the motor is getting the required oil all the time. It is nice though just topping up the oil tank occasionally and filling with straight gas with no messing around.
