dfish,<br /><br />Get a turkey baster and "suck up" a bit of oil from the very bottom of the oil tank. Squirt it into a glass jar and let it set a spell.<br /><br />Look for any sludge, emulsion, or water that may have gotten into the tank over the years. If there is any, clean it out and change the filter screen before using the boat.<br /><br />The service manual tells how to test the oil pumping rate and how to check the alarm system. That should be done after any rebuild. For peace of mind and a 1 year parts and labor warranty, install a new pump, just like they do when a 4-stroke engine is rebuilt.
