Good morning guys,

I think i may have a problem, my boat is parked for the long winter sleep.

Every two weeks i pump the fuel bulb to keep the carbs full, the last time i noticed fuel oozing out of the top of the vro, right in the center on top of pump there is a smal round 1/2 by 1/8 inch hi part in the casting fuel is oozing out of the side of this, could this be a pressure relief of some kind? dont look normal to me.

In the meantime i found a VRO2 pump that has acording to the owner only 60 hours on it,bought in jan,2004 he claims he sold his boat and the new owner wants to premix. The price is rite only $100.00 but can this be trusted? apreciate anny help on my two long questions..Thanks..Claude.. ;)

Re: VRO2or OMS pump

Hi jc,

First, I wouldn't worry too much about pumping the fuel bulb every two weeks. As long as you added a stabilizer to the fuel and ran the motor long enough thereafter to make sure the treated fuel made it to the carbs, you shouldn't have any varnished/gummed up carb problems.

Not sure exactly what part of the pump the fuel is oozing from. I believe the top centre of my fuel pump has an elbow fitting which attaches to the fuel line. Don't think that is what you are talking about, but if it is, you can buy that elbow for a couple of bucks at a dealer (I broke one off a few years ago).

As for the used pump....I personally wouldn't go for it. I'd always be waiting for it to break. Since you've got another 4-5 months before getting back on the water, I'd keep and eye on ebay. You can often pick up new VRO pumps there for $150 or so.

Good luck!
