VSR vent line full of fuel

Hello,

I have been trying to fix a problem with a fuel rich condition at idle, after installing a clear tube from the VSR vent fitting to the pulse limiter on the TBI per the service manual. I noticed raw fuel gathering in the tube, so I replaced the float and needle in the VSR and adusted the float to 3/16' per the manual. I am still getting raw fuel in the vent line. So far I have,
-replaced the VSR float, spring clip and the float needle
-pulse limiter
-injectors
I have a spare fuel meter body with pressure regulator but I am having a hard time finding the right diaphragm.
What is causing the raw fuel in the vent line?
Thank you,

Either needle is leaking (not seating properly, damaged seat or needle)
or there is to much pressure and needle is unable to stop the flow

so it could be the pressure regulator diaphragm allowing to much fuel pressure? seems like it would force the needle to seat harder and not allow fuel past?

You must have a leaky float needle valve seat to get fuel in that vent line. Take it apart again and inspect the seat with a magnifying glass. If there is anything there at all clean it out and blow it dry with an air gun. Reassemble it, turn it upside down (to allow the float and needle to fall and close the valve) stick a syringe in the vent line and pull out the plunger. If the seat is good the valve will seal and there will be a vacuum in the syringe trying to pull the plunger back in, if the valve leaks the plunger will stay out and you will need a new seat or a new part that the seat is in.

is it possible for the fuel to becoming from the TBI? When watched it while running and it looks like the fuel is comimg through the pulse limiter and not coming from the VSR vent.

I don't have the manual for your motor so I'm using Merc

What your calling the pulse limiter is that the fuel pressure regulator which is on top the VSR. If this Reg is not keeping pressure at required spec then to much fuel will be dumped back in VSR. If this was happening the motor should be experiencing other running problems and not just idle

here's a pic of the pulse limiter that goes in a port on the TBI base, it does run rough above idle as well. not like just 1 cylinder but a miss every revolution

also have good fuel pump pressures, tested wires from ECU to ECT sensor achecked TPS with Ohm meter, tried changing the pressure regulator diaphragm but that only gave 22psi fuel pressure on the high side and it wouldn't run right then not at all so I switched it back.

We're back were we started.
The only way fuel comes into the clear hose is if pressure is to high, needle and seat not stopping fuel or float level is set to high

pressure at test valve atop VSR at 9psi., so I guess I will try again on adjusting the float, right after I figure out why I lost O.D. trim function after testing ignition circuit.
