What is the rule for the employer to get you the W2? Do they have to postmark them by 01/31 or do they have to be in your hand by 01/31? It seems that my company is late each year and I am only waiting for this to file. They have taken my taxes and held tham hostage with no interest and I want mine back ASAP.

Re: W2's

01-31 was the law, but some of employers believe they are bigger than the law and us lowly dependant employees are at their mercy. I now with hold close to what I expect to pay. Last year I had a $12.00 refund, and owed Indiana $26. Of course I mailed it in 4-14. This way I have my $$ all year. It is easier now with No kids. :D

LOL at SBN and thanks for the info, IMHO,there is no more unfair tax than to confiscate the income tax, well maybe the tax on groceries.

You should receive your W2 by 1/31/2005, by law. If your company hold it until 2/1/05 then you should read them the riot act and ask for interest refund for 1 day!!! :D :D :D

WoW, NYM. I'm impressed by how close to zero-ballance that was! I don't have the nerve to try that, fearing I'll have a 4-figure ballance due. I allways "over-withold", and am unable to use that money until the end of the year.
Last year, I overpaid by $1700, but at least I didn't have to mortgage the house to write them a check.

When I was ranching I owed every year. Did you know if you sedn your taxes in with no money they will bill you about 5 months later? They don't forget that bill either.
This year is amazing, Iam actually getting $4000 back.
