I have a 1987 14'4" wahoo that i bought last year. This week i was washing it out in my driveway with all the drain plugs out, and all the water that drained out, came out of the center drain plug at the lowest point of the transom which would be under water if the boat was in the water. I read that these boats have two hulls with a space between them. Question is, is water suppose to be in there, or is a bilge pump go down there, I can't find an opening for one. I do have a bilge pump on the top hull under the floor. Thanks for any help

Re: wahoo bilge

Water draining out of the bilge plug sounds pretty normal to me.

If you have concerns, some pics would help, especially of the bilge pump that is on top of the hull but under the floor???????

with the boat in the water, this drain plug would be in, but under the water line so theres water in the boat (like when it rains) until it reaches the bilge pump which is on the "top" hull. I understand they had a double hull with a space between them, that's where the water is,between them.Sorry no pictures, not that computer savvy and no camera.Thank You

Re: wahoo bilge

I have a 1990 14.4 and my bilge is inside the rear center access hole, not easy to get to but never gets water in there. If you are getting water int here after washing or getting the deck wet I suspect one or more of your drain lines (ie:tube from drain in front of seat to rear sump area) may be cracked or broken and the water is leaking into the bottom of the hull. I know mine has 3 holes in the small drain sump just in front of the transom area, two are for the stern compartments and the middle one has nothing there it must have broke. So when it drains water from in front of the seat it doesn't go where its suppose to it drains into the bottom for the hull where the bilge kicks it out. I think that's correct, so maybe you have some busted lines.

Re: wahoo bilge

if yours is the whaler-type wahoo, the space between the floors is filled with floatation foam, and no water should get in or out of there. if water is in there, it's a problem.

the drain tube is a bronze tube that goes through the transom to the well on the other side. Water passes through it; none should get in or out of the tube.

your first post sounds like the water ran out the boat from the deck like it should--it it's the hull I am picturing.
