Unless you getting the tubeing free and can bend it and weld and paint it

500 dollars does really not go that far

Re: wakeboard towers

I have a home made one on my boat, it was on it when i bought it, but works great. i'm 230lbs,and it is more than sturdy enough to pull me. Looks to be nothing more than some 1.5" exhaust pipe, and some swivel mounts. Send me your e-mail and i can send you pics of the boat if you want. it's a ski boat though. But you can get the idea.

I made a tower for my '80 16" Starcraft. It's made out of 2'' tubing. Total cost was less then $100. If you want, I can send pictures to your email.

Try going to wakeboarder.com, you will need to make an account to view picture, but like iboats, its free. Then once a member, go to forums, and from there scroll down to diy projects. there are tons or diy towers, and a few that i am considering building once i finish my floors. Also try going to http://bierbower.net/diytower/ , if not for anything else, just to laugh at some of the towers people made. Like the one made entirely of 2x4's and 4x4's.

Re: wakeboard towers

What ever you do - do not make it out of exhaust pipe - all good towers are made out of aluminum so they do not rust. Also do not mount directly to boat - find some "heim" joints for mounting as they will save your boat in the longrun. I reccomend www.monstertower.com for the best universal towers. If $600-$1000 is too much for you then stick with fishing b/c wakeboarding will cost you way more than that in the long run and it you will never be able to get good air behind a bass boat since they are designed for speed with no wake. I would say you are wasting your time and money building a tower since the small wake is your biggest problem.
