I just bought a Yamaha Wave Venture 1996 and was wondering. Does this machine have enough power to pull an adult wakeskater/wakeboarder? I know it is said to have 80hp but I also believe that with the jet engine that doesn't add up like a prop... will this work?

The only way to find out is to try, jets usually have great acceleration so getting the skater out of the hole shouldn't be a problem.

Be forewarned though, in most places the jet ski has to be a 3 seat model for it to legally tow someone with room for the driver, spotter, and an empty space for the person being towed.

The kids have no problem skating behind our 130 hp Sea Doo. You should de OK. Just make sure it is a 3 person ski. The Marine Police love to give out the $125 tickets on our lake.

Re: wakeskating behind pwc

My brother's '95 SeaDoo SP (40hp) had no problem pulling a 120lb slalom skier out. I don't think it would be a stretch to think a 150lb slalom skier with a little skill would have fared fine as well.

As for wake sports. That same seadoo is how my brother and I both learned to wakeboard (180lb). Pulling power isn't a problem at all, but they're tricky to drive as keeping a steady speed takes some concentration. Obviously the wake will be tiny, but it's enough to learn to jump.
