I am sure you guys have seen this before....

A walk-through windshield with a flat aluminum strip to extend it to the other side. Without the extension screwed into it - the windshield would not close - there would be about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch air gap.

What causes this? can i make an adjustment or is my boat 'opening' up? Sitting on the trailer wrong without proper support?

it's an aluminum boat - 20' with an 8' beam.

is the gap uniform (same distance top and bottom) if so no problem. if it is wider at the top, the boat is spreadind, wider at the bottom. console is settling.

Same distance - I know because I put two strips of marine weatherstripping on it to make sure it didn't bang when closed. It's a 20-year old boat, I expect a little settling. Just wanted to make sure it was normal.

Thanks as always TD for your answer!
