Hi everyone. By way of commentary, all of you who have contributed to our Forums have been extremely helpful in building the iboats Forums into the strong resources that they are today, for which we sincerely thank you.

Our Forums have done so well that we are now receiving some very positive feedback and requests for information from both individuals and businesses. Here is one current case in point. Yesterday we were contacted by the Wall Street Journal as they had heard about our Forums. The writer (Jennifer Saranow) is working on a story for the WSJ about forums, how much help forums can be to people, and how forums can also be a source for people to meet and make new friends through discussion boards like ours.

We were happy to share information as Jennifer asked a number of specific questions about iboats and our Forums. She then indicated that she would be very interested in finding some of our Forum users who have developed friendships with other people through the iboats Forums and/or who may have taken their friendships off the site to an e-mail level and maybe even who have met in person. If you fit any of these descriptions and would be willing to provide information to the WSJ for their article, please e-mail Jennifer directly at (email address deleted) as soon as possible as her deadline is next Monday.

Thank you in advance if you decide to participate in this article. We see this as another great way to let the public know who iboats is and what we are doing to help and support boating, fishing and other water-sports. If you have questions about this for me, I can always be contacted at boards@iboats.com.

Mis-spelt words is just our way of protecting our private lifes which goes hand and hand with our typing skills. (and Admin 5 WON'T install a spell checker  LOL no one would wait for it to check ....we are all just impatient!!!)

I am pleased by the recognition however  it may become a double edged sword! Stand back boys this thing could get REALLY BIG!!!

We have all establish bonds, freindships and daily routines as a result of this board. I am positive that we have increased boating manual sales as well as increasing our maintenance knowledge. I am sure we have kept more people on the water and even had an effect on mechanics incomes.

This board is for everyone from the 10' jon boat to the megayacht, rowing, sailing, outboards, inboards and even those curious few without a boat (yet ;) )!

The creation of our "Nothing to do with Boats" has stimulated fun and debates. "Stupid Human Tricks" gives us the opportunity to laugh at ourselves.

Basically, we have covered just about every subject from: Boating, maintenace of everything concievable, dreaming, joking, world events and assiting others cope with life and daily jobs.

I am proud to be part of this community and hope it is a favorable article. People of the world will have the ability to read about JB, his wisdom and The Hideout!

Bob  United We Stand!

Re: Wall Street Journal article about these boards!

Congratulations iboats for this potential exposure in the WSJ. A favorable article in such a large paper could be great PR for iboats and bring even more boating friends to these boards. Let's help iboats on this one by contacting the WSJ writer, Jennifer. See her email address above. Who knows...maybe we'll get our names in print! :D  ;)

Sorry about that. Just could not pass it up.
I have just been a member since Aug. but can say that all that I have read, with a few exceptions, have been very interesting to say the least and a lot of the stuff very helpful. Just glad to have found this site. Keep it up iboats and hats off to you. :)

Thanks everyone for participating. Below is an email from Jenny.

Quote: Thanks so much for all your help. I've gotten so many replies to the posting-- a lot of people really have made friends at your site. In fact, they started replying to the posting. Anyway, I think we can take the posting down now. I'll keep you posted on the status of the story.

Have a great day.

Best,
Jenny

I have modified the original post so that you can not contact her anymore. We will look forward to reading the article! I will keep you all updated on when it will come out so you can pick up a copy of the WSJ.
