Re: Wallpaper and Drywall

Sorry . I didn't mean to offend or come off like a know it all jerk or something . The method Colbyt posted would definatly work . The only problem that I see is the blistering that will happen skimming over raw torn up drywall . You might as well skim all at once so you can cut out the blisters all at the same time .
Sorry again I guess the 30 years I have been doing this stuff professionally kinda bled through a bit .
Regards SP ...

I won't speak for others but I took no offense. I realize someone who does this every day does it far better, faster etc than I do. What I suggested works for anyone with moderate skills and the presumption was that if the poster had the skills there would have been no question. Additionally I will do as many coats as needed to avoid a heavy sanding; my lungs just don't like the dust.

I wonder why pink plaster never made it this side of the pond. I haven't found anything like it in the usa but in the uk you just skim the wall wait till it starts to set then spray with a little water and trowel over and its smooth as a mirror. 3 men did my living room (uk) which was 14 by 26 in under a hour and once dry it didn't require any sanding and was ready to paint. Any expert seen a American version of pink plaster?

In the old days they used to use plaster all the time . They would put lime in it and it would lay down nice and flat . I have not seen the pink plaster but it sounds like a good product ..

Had plaster walls in my first house in Detroit. Never had to fix 'em though. Still working on the wallpaper … blah.

....and I didn't mean to imply that you did.
I've been paying more attention to your great input. :)
