So someone hooked up an older distributor/coil setup on an engine that used to have the CDI box setup? Funny...I thought about doing that when my Force 85 was having ignition problems!

Lot of work though for a less efficient ignition system. I know. I did it myself on a white early Force Prestolite ignition block.

First you need to get an old style flywheel, distributor, and belt. Then you need to get an old style alternator mount and alternator. Or, if you can find one, a Magna-power III retrofit alternator mount. Then you need to machine down the mount (if not the retrofit unit) so it fits in the shallower top bearing pocket and re-drill the block for the old style four X 3/8 mounting screws. lastly, tap the existing holes for the 3/8 distributor mounting screws. Then you have the pleasure of re wiring everything.

Easier to just buy a used CD box or two.

Not worth buying the necessary parts so I guess, like me, he had them from another non-running older engine.

I think the person did it just so they could have that really cool looking yellow ignition wire set.

Maybe they just used an old Motorola powerhead and painted it black.
