Hi all.

I am completely new to marine engines and just recently picked up a small runabout with an Evinrude Lark IV (apparently 40HP). Info I have been able to locate is as follows:

Model: 35531
Serial: 50124

Just like to know what year it is...(I was told around '64) and what people know about this motor? Good, bad, easily fixed/maintained, worth spending $ on it or anything other opinions.

Thanks again.

i'm sure he will get one if he's planning on working on it. give the boy some time. He's new to the field. lets help him out. not shut the door in his face. he's new to the site lets welcome him not slam the door in his face. i know there's a sticky that says what year is my motor? i'm sure he just didnt see it. and i dont think there is one problem besides wiring that i've got my answer from the troubleshooting section of my oem manual???

Good, simple, reliable motor if it's not the selectric shift model. If it hasn't been abused and has been taken care of, you can probably tune it up and have it running reliably again for less than $200. Check the top secret file at the top of this J/E forum...a wealth of knowledge there for you.
