If you buy the right gauge for your set up (e.g. get the right trim gauge for the engine/sender that you have - same goes for others), it should be an easy switch if the gauges are the same size. On my boat, the trickiest part for gauge work is getting to the work - it can be tight under there.

Most gauge comapnies (e.g. teleflex) have pretty complete gauge selection and installation guides on line.

Take out the front seats, you'll gain a lot of room to lie under the helm. Be sure all of the wire terminations and wiring in general is nice if you're swapping gauge for gauge. Boat wiring can be a mess.
